Fake Antivirus. |

Recently there has been a wide spread of computers infected with a program claiming to be an Antivirus program. The
program typically “pops-up” as soon as you have loaded the Windows desktop or started Internet Explorer. The program
has many names (Antivirus 2008, XP Antivirus 2008, Antivirus XP 2008 and Antivirus 2009). When the “pop-up” loads it
tells you that you are infected with many viruses and you should run this program to remove them. In actuality you are
not even infected with the viruses it claims it has found. This program wants you to purchase the software to remove
