significant net hydrocarbon exporter, exporting about two-thirds of its total energy production.
Australia is the world’s largest coal exporter and the fifth largest exporter of liquefied natural gas
(LNG) in 2007, after Qatar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Algeria. Australia’s prospects for expanding
these energy exports in the future are promising as Asian demand for both coal and LNG is rising.
