TOP 9 TIPS FOR WRITING A PAPER

Buy the APA or MLA  handbook

These books have very useful guidelines on how to write a paper. They contains the answer to almost every single grammar question. They show you the proper and current standardized ways to write various types of papers.

* Have fun picking your Topic

Pick a subject that you are interested in writing about, study and read what you can about it .This will help because you will improve your knowledge of the subject you are currently interested in writing about. It will also be fun and you will be passionate about writing your paper, instead of dreading it.

* Keep your audience in mind.

You should always have your audience in mind when writing any paper. Ask yourself who is your audience. Before any essay decide on how you will write and what you will write according to your audience.

* Create an Interesting Title

Your title needs to be full of keywords so that the reader knows what they are about to read about. You should try to make your title sound interesting and to the point, so that it catches the reader’s attention.

* Be Coherent!

This does not mean that you have to stick to one topic, but there has to be a main topic. From the main topic the writer can branch off into different subjects. It is always good to try to stay on the topic at hand.

* Do your research

This means that you will have to read a lot of books and articles on your topic. The more you familiarize yourself with your topic the easier it is to write a great paper.

* Have evidence to back your statements

This is especially true when you are writing a research paper. A best practice is to always jot down everyplace you found information from, in your notes. You should know where you found a statement or excerpt from so that it will be easy to find when you are finishing your paper with a bibliography of references.

* Build up to your final draft

A good paper always starts with brainstorming and/or a rough draft. This enables the writer to jot down all of his ideas and what he expects to deliver in the paper. After writing the ideas, the writer can do a rough draft which later can be used as a skeleton for the final copy.

* Ask your peers to review your work

Sometimes we might look at a paper so many times that we can not catch our own mistakes. A trick of the trade is to have someone, preferably someone with knowledge in the field, to look over your paper. You can also finish your paper before a due date and ask your teacher to revise it for you before the due date. If you do not feel comfortable with this, you can also put away the paper for a few hours and come back and revise it so that you will have a clear mind when reviewing it.
