Currents and Magnetism |
| “Oersted's experiments, using a relatively simple instrument, were enough to rock the
foundations of Newtonian Mechanics. The nature of magnetic force was distinct
from the forces known until then. It was certainly not a central force, since it was
not oriented along a straight line between two interacting points, as happens with
gravitational forces, interacting forces between electrical charges at rest, or between
the two poles of a magnet. ...... Read |

Magnetic Force on a Moving Charge |
Magnetic Force on a Moving Charge
Electric charges moving in a magnetic field experience a force due to
the magnetic field. Given a charge Q moving with velocity u in a magnetic
flux density B, the vector magnetic force Fm
on the charge is given by.......................... Read |

Magnetic Force Microscopy |
| For visualisation of magnetic domains by Scanning Probe Microscopy different Magnetic Force Microscopy
probes are offered. They are designed to match the demands of a wide range of applications defined by the
variety of magnetic samples with different properties. All the different magnetic coatings of the probes have
proven an excellent long-term stability. Read |

Magnetic Fields and Magnetic Forces |
| Magnetic fields are created by charges in motion (currents)
• Magnetic fields are denoted with the symbol B.
• Electricity & magnetism are related (relativity is the bridge)
• Magnetic fields are force fields like electric fields but the magnetic force
only acts on charges in motion Read |

Titanic Movie Review |
| In nine weeks of release, "Titanic" has taken in
about $850 million at the box office world-wide,
and is expected to pass $1 billion, topping the
"Jurassic Park" record of $930 million in 1993;
studios get about half the box office. Production
costs alone were more than $200 million.
Paramount, a unit of Viacom Inc. "capped" its
investment in the film at $65 million; Twentieth
Century Fox, a News Corp. unit, had to pay that
amount, plus pick up the tab when "Titanic" went
at least $80 million over its $120 million budget. Read |

Titanic |
| When RMS Titanic sailed away on her maiden voyage on April 10th,
1912, she was hailed as ‘the new wonder of the world’. A remarkable
feat of engineering, she was the largest and most luxuriously
appointed ship ever seen and, despite her tragic sinking five days
later, she remains a source of enduring pride in the City where she
was built – Belfast. Read |
